KineOS 8.0
Version v8.0
Description
KineOS 8.0 introduces 4K full-frame uncompressed RAW, bringing lossless data and unlimited post-production flexibility through scientific metadata-based workflows. ProRes encoding gains BT.2020 wide color gamut for more accurate color science. The UI has been redesigned for a more intuitive, modern experience with custom key mapping and enhanced notifications.
I. Lossless Uncompressed RAW
Lossless uncompressed RAW in DNG format supports 4K full-frame recording at all frame rates. By processing 8K/6K FF sensor data into standard 4K, storage load is reduced while maintaining the same field of view and frame rate.
1. DNG and Metadata: Each RAW frame embeds rich metadata — shutter, ISO, color matrix, color curves — for a complete scientific post-production pipeline.
2. Post Workflow Compatibility: DaVinci Resolve natively supports DNG format, from recording through embedded metadata to scientific color space, dramatically optimizing the post workflow.
3. Up to 4K 120p: The Edge computing platform delivers enough throughput for 4K 120p lossless uncompressed RAW in-camera processing.
4. High-bandwidth KineMAG Nano 1TB/2TB: Built on NVMe M.2 2280 SSDs with read/write speeds up to 10Gbps — a massive leap over traditional SATA SSDs. *Non-KineMAG Nano third-party SSDs may have insufficient storage capability.
II. BT.2020 Color Gamut
KineOS 8.0 provides wide-gamut BT.2020, improving color matching across Kinefinity models and delivering more accurate color reproduction.
1. Two Color Gamut Choices: In ProRes mode, both Kinefinity native wide gamut and the newly added BT.2020 standard gamut are available for a more scientific post-production workflow.
2. BT.2020: When selected, the camera records super-sampled standard 4K resolution while maintaining field of view. BT.2020 is the standard for UHD and HDR content production, giving post-production teams professional flexibility for broadcast and cinema. *Frame rate availability may vary in BT.2020 mode.
III. Modern UI Design
KineOS 8.0 adds custom key mapping, enhanced notifications, and a consistent UI design throughout the system.
1. Dialog Redesign:
– Icon-based notification: new color-coded icons (green/yellow/red) for operational feedback.
– Unified font sizing: consistent typography across titles, lists, and prompts.
– Modern rounded-corner dialog backgrounds with distinct visual treatment for shooting, playback, and media settings.
2. Custom Keys:
– Three physical buttons (Key 1, Key 2, rotary center) × two trigger modes (short press, long press) = five customizable user keys.
– Over ten assignable functions for creative flexibility.
3. New Windows:
– Optimized one-level notifications with clearer, more logical prompts.
– Progress-timer secondary prompts for firmware updates, auto power-off, and playback switching.
– Redesigned settings and confirmation windows consistent with the new UI language.
IV. Additional Optimizations
1. High-frame-rate color: Significantly improved processing pipeline for high-frame-rate modes — colors are now more accurate and consistent with standard frame rates.
2. KineMAG Nano 2TB stability: Improved recording stability for KineMAG Nano 2TB SSDs.
3. Edge 8K monitoring: Fixed occasional micro-stutter in MAVO Edge 8K monitoring under certain conditions.
